Audrey Bares Desormeaux

ERATH — A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Audrey Bares Desormeaux age 84, will be held on Monday September 29, 2014 at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Sunday September 28, 2014 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a rosary at 7:00PM in the funeral home. Visitation will continue Monday September 29, 2014 from 8:00AM until services.
A lifelong resident of Abbeville, LA Mrs. Desormeaux passed away at 10:57PM on Thursday September 25, 2014 at Amelia Manor. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Mrs. Desormeaux was a devout catholic who allowed faith to guide her. She was a very talented seamstress having worked for Godchaux's, Maison Blanche, Macys and then out of her own home. Mrs. Desormeaux loved to sew, watched game shows and was a very big fan of the Yankees.
She was dedicated to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Desormeaux was an amazing woman who was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her five daughters, Cheryl Gilbert (Randy) of Blythewood SC, Gail Lee (Larry), Lisa Frederick (Horace), Karla Toups (Barry) all of Erath LA, and Nancy Lopez (Blaine) of Broussard LA; one son, Karlan Desormeaux (Cheney) of Erath LA; thirteen grandchildren, Kelli Leblanc, Chad Gilbert, Garrett Frederick, Jason Lee, Victoria Baudoin, Nicholas Lopez, Brett Lee, Brad Frederick, Christopher Lopez, Taylor Desormeaux, Ali Lopez, Scott Toups, and Justin Toups; seven great-grandchildren, Luke Leblanc, Madelyn Lee, Grant Lee, Jeanne Leblanc, Anne Catherine Leblanc, Colt Toups, and Adelyn Toups; one niece, Roxann Backus; and one nephew, Lindsey Hulin Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edvard Bares and the former Aline LeLeux; one son, Al Desormeaux Jr.; one sister, Jeanette Hulin; a special aunt, Victoria Leblanc; and one granddaughter, Rachel Gilbert.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the staff at Heart of Hospice, Amelia Manor Nursing Home, and to her granddaughter Victoria, for the wonderful care given to her grandmother.
