Andrus David

HOUSTON - On Wednesday, April 8, 2014, Andrus David was called from this earth after 75 years. He died at his home in Houston, Texas with his children and wife surrounding him in love.
Andrus was married to Mary Ann Lege David of Lake Arthur for 53 years and together they reared three children, Catherine Mansfield, married to Kent Mansfield, residing in Katy, Texas; Rhonda David, married to Michael Paul Kratzer of Roanoak, La, and son, Kevin David married to Cherry, residing in Katy, Texas.
He is survived by his three children and nine grandchildren, Joey Kirkland, (Christina), Andrea O’Toole (Sean), Jessica Kirkland, Chelsea Mansfield, Misti DeLeon, Terra Mathews (Shawn), Jenna Beyean, Collin and Ashlyn David. He also leaves behind 12 great grandchildren, Lily, Nikole, Cynthia Kirkland, Hazley and Grant Beyeau, Caleb O’Toole, Kayden Kirkland, Adam, Melanie and Karynton DeLeon, Sean Michael and Brennon Mathews. Surviving siblings include Juanita Benoit, Jennifer David, Lisbeth David, Sarah Sensat, and Johnny David.
Andrus was born in Gueydan, graduated from Gueydan High School in 1958 and worked at the Bank of Gueydan from 1956 to 1970. He moved to Houston, Texas and where he and his wife, Mary Ann, ran a business until retirement. He loved woodworking and gardening. He was proud of his Cajun roots and enjoyed telling stories of growing up in Gueydan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Elray David, his brother, Donald David and grandson Keenan Mansfield. A memorial service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas on Friday, May 2, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1848 Longmont CA 80502.
