ABBEVILLE — Homegoing Services will be held for Althea “Titty” or “Baby Sister” Greene Huntly,75, on Saturday, August 09, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
Private visitation for immediate family members will be from 8-9 and will continue with a public visitation with a closed casket until the time of service.
Tributes will be expressed at this time. Pastor Michael C. Wright will be the officiant. Althea passed on Saturday, August 2, at 2:37 a.m. at the Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, La. She was born and reared here in Abbeville. She was a faithful member of the Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church and enjoyed church services every Sunday, even attending services the Sunday prior to her death.
She leaves to cherish many memories two daughters, Ruth Elaine Huntly Brown and Carol Lynn Huntly Ozenne; sons-in-law, Leonard Brown Sr. and Tracy Ozenne all of Abbeville. Grandchildren, Kenwin(Deshera) Huntly and their children, Chaston and Chandler Huntly of Columbia, South Carolina, Kercia Huntly and her children, Donathan, Denver and Dakodi Comeaux, Kodd Huntly and his daughter, Kodd’lesha Huntly, Shellie (Malcolm) Collins and their children, DeMarcus, Daja, Dominique, and DeJeanne Mariah and Shlae Huntly and her sons, Karson and Karter, all of Abbeville; brothers Sam Ever Green (Jessica) and Murray Eugene Green(Lorraine), Morris Eugene Wright Jr. (Marilyn); sisters, Foster Lea Peters (Hamilton) all of Abbeville and Margaret Wright Campbell (Lawrence) of Hanover, Illinois; half-siblings, Cheryl, Anitra, Dawn, Michelle, Kathy, D’Adra(Harry Boudreaux), Charles, Dwayne, and Howard Green; her God-children, Jasmine Wilson, Mariel Taylor, Sheldon Keith Green, and Donna Henry; one aunt, Marian Bessard Wright; one uncle, Minor Wright; a God Mother-in-Law whom she loved dearly, Lucille Rice of Manvel, Texas; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hooper( Harry); nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marian Wright Green and Sam Green; grandparents and uncles who were instrumental in her rearing, Foster and Althea Wright; Morris Wright,Sr., and Murphy Wright Sr.; her paternal grandmother, Hester “Easter” Matthews; aunts, Doris Joiner Wright and Lula Joiner Wright; one brother, Lionel “Jum” Williams; a half-sister, Terry Rob,a sister-in-law, Emma Lee Pillette, her mother-in-law, Mary P. Bessard; and last but not least, her ride or die friend, Geraldine ”Jeri” Bernard.
Active Pallbearers will be: Malcolm Collins, Allen Wade Huntly, Tracy St.Julien, Terry Brown, Donathan Comeaux, and DeMarcus Collins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Minor Wright, Sam Green, Murray Green, Kenwin Huntly, Kodd Huntly, Leonard Brown Sr., Leonard Brown, Jr., Tracy Ozenne, Kenneth Kiah, Lawrence Campbell, Morris Wright Jr., Hamilton Peters, Rev. Michael C. Wright, Sr., Rev. John E. Allen, Jared F. Green, Sheldon K. Green, Timothy C. Green, Jacque Pillette, Eddie Saddler Jr., Gerald Bernard, Joseph Clark, and Kiley Green.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Marilyn Marshall and her staff, Dr.Hale and his staff, the Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church family. Thanks are also extended to Concepts of Care Home Health, Abbeville Community Health Center, Dr. Levine and his staff, Iberia Medical Center, Mr. Eric Singleton and Kinchen Funeral Home Staff, and to her phone buddies who encouraged her throughout the nights.
