Lady Cats fall to Sam Houston, finish second in District 4-4A
Despite having bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Eunice High Lady Cats were handed their third shutout loss by the Sam Houston Lady Broncos in Monday's make-up game, concluding District 4-4A play for both teams.
Sam Houston took the lead in the top of the first inning with one run, then exploded for four runs in the top of the third.
The Lady Broncos added one run in the fifth to lead 6-0.
Sam Houston then broke out for six runs in the top of the sixth, and the Lady Bronco defense put an end to Eunice's scoring opportunity in the second half.
The Lady Cats finish district play in second place with a 6-3 district record.
The Lady Broncos are undefeated in district, and are 21-3-3 overall.
Eunice travels to Kinder Thursday for a nondistrict match; on Friday, the Lady Cats will learn who their first-round foe in the playoffs will be.
