ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Edward Reynolds Mayers, 55, who died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his residence.
Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate the services. Burial will be held at a later date
He is survived by the mother of his children Marilyn Stelly; companion, Rebecca Mouton; mother, Mary Neva Hardy; two sons, Colbi Reed Mayers and his wife Nikki and Chad Edward Mayers; two daughters, Kimberly Jo Mayers and Trish Johnnie; step brothers, Mike Hardy and his wife Neise, Chris Hardy and his wife Kim, Tim Hardy and his wife Robin, Tony Hardy and his wife Trudy, Pat Hardy and his wife Liz and David Hardy and his wife Kelly; and nine grandchildren, Drake Mayers, Jenna Mayers, Colbi J. Mayers, Cole Mayers, Cain Mayers, Lakasha Mouton, Jentz Mouton, Jayden Johnnie and one on the way, Christian Mayers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edward Mayers; step father, Minos Hardy; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Edna Mayers; maternal grandparents, Milton Adams and Bernice Davidson; and step brother, John Mark Hardy.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday May 24, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
