Driver arrested for Vermilion Parish crash that left passenger dead

Troopers with Louisiana State Police arrested 31-year-old Martin Nguyen of Lafayette Thursday for charges relating to the fatal crash which occurred on April 18 on LA 339 near Reno Road in Vermilion Parish.
Upon receiving toxicology results, investigating Troopers discovered Nguyen’s blood alcohol concentration was over the legal limit when the crash occurred. Troopers also determined Nguyen was driving 150 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. With the information from the report, and other information gathered during the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for Nguyen.
Thursday morning Nguyen was arrested without incident at a hospital in Lafayette. He was booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center for the warrant charging him with Vehicular Homicide, Speeding 150/55 mph zone, Reckless Operation and Improper Lane Usage.
This case remains under investigation.
