Gueydan High students mourn loss of Tanner LaBauve

By Judy LeBlanc, Gueydan Journal Editor

GUEYDAN - In the ordinary course of life, parents don't expect to out-live their children. But in the case of one Gueydan family the thought and fear was always there.
It goes against what parents perceive to be the natural order of things, and it feels awfully unfair. The family of Tanner LaBauve mourn their son this morning after losing him to cancer. The 15-year-old Gueydan High student died early Thursday, April 28 from pneumonia. Tanner was diagnosed with cancer at a very early age. An out pour of messages have deluged Facebook after the news begins to spread throughout the school and town. One such message posted, "Gueydan High’s Tanner LaBauve gained his angel wings this morning. Fly High Tanner! Everyone in the Gueydan community loves you and will always remember you! Rest easy buddy!" Tanner was the son of Ray and Jaimi LaBauve of Gueydan. Arrangements for Tanner will be posted at a later time.
