Vermilion Parish School Board member resigns

Vermilion Parish School Board member Ricky Broussard suddenly resigned at Thursday night’s school board meeting.
Broussard, from Erath, explained that because of an illness in his family, he will no longer be able to have time to be a school board member.
“I am announcing my resignation from the school board effective April 30,” said Broussard.
Broussard thanked Superintendent Jerome Puyau and all of the school board members he has worked with over the last two terms.
Broussard presented Puyau with a letter of resignation and the letter will be mailed to Baton Rouge.
After Baton Rouge gets the letter, the school board has 20 days to name a temporary replacement.
That replacement will be the school board member until a special election can be held in November.
Broussard submitted a name, Marshall Broussard, as his replacement.
The school board has the final decision on Broussard’s replacement.
