Betty Jean Romero DeCoux

ERATH – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Betty Jean Romero DeCoux, 90, will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Monday, February 29, 2016 beginning at 4:30 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM and remain open all night until the services on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
A native of New Iberia and a resident of Erath Mrs. DeCoux died at 1:20 PM on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Abbeville General Hospital.
She enjoyed cooking, joking, and caring for others. Her home was always open and no one was a stranger.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara DeCoux, Betty DeCoux, and Amanda Melancon all of Erath; a brother, Richard Romero of Abbeville, two sisters, Lucille LeBlanc of New Iberia and Mildred Bonin of Coteau Holmes; two grandchildren, Raquel Bourque and Michelle Romero; eight great grandchildren, Jake Romero, Taylor Bourque, Kevin Bourque, James Bourque, Jr., Jacques Bourque, Sarah Bourque, Trey Fredrick, and Cy Fredrick; and one great great grandchild, Abel Braxton Bares.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie J. DeCoux, Sr., her parents, Melvin and Lorenza Romero; four sons, Curley DeCoux, Ollie J. Decoux, Jr., Gayle DeCoux, and David Lee DeCoux; two daughters, Shirley deCoux and Virginia DeCoux; three brothers, Lizay Romero, Joseph Romero, and Lester Romero; and five sisters, Mary Helen Trosclair, Theresa Callias, Eula Mae Boudreaux, Anna Mae Gary, Audrey Crochet, and Esther Boatright.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the following people from Acadian Hospice and Palliative Care; Rose, Kristin, Emie, Carissa, Kramer, and Marla. They considered them as an extension to their family.
Serving as pallbearers will be her family and friends.
