Errol Trahan

June 1, 1950 - February 25, 2016

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette for Errol Trahan, age 65, who died at 10:25 PM on Monday, February 22, 2016, after a four year battle with multiple myeloma, at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his loving family.
Interment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Reverend Michael Delcambre, nephew and Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Donn E. Dees, Britni Chautin, and Brenda Laird. Giftbearers will be Shannon Monic, and Joel Dees.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Chautin Guidroz Trahan of Lafayette; one daughter, Emily Trahan Woods and her husband Peter Woods of Lake Charles; one son, Christopher Trahan of Abbeville and two stepsons, Michael Guidroz and his wife Tina and Mark Guidroz, all of Lafayette; his mother, Hazel Trahan of Abbeville; one mother-in-law Mary Chautin; four grandchildren, Ethan, Allie and Kate Woods of Lake Charles and Jemma Guidroz of Lafayette; one sister, Vicki Dees and her husband Donn E. of Jennings.
He was preceded in death by his father Alvin Ray Trahan.
Mr. Trahan was born on June 1, 1950 and was a native of Abbeville, Louisiana. He was a resident of Lafayette for twenty years. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Trahan was employed at Erath Middle School as Vice Principal. He enjoyed his time coaching at numerous high schools before becoming a vice principal. Mr. Trahan was an avid motorcyclist and loved watching sports. He also loved cajun music and dancing. His top priority in life was his family. Errol was an inspiration to many, by maintaining his positive attitude and sense of humor, throughout his courageous fight with cancer. He will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Michael Guidroz, Mark Guidroz, Carl Dees, Peter Woods, Roger Chautin and Tommy Picard.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Donn E. Dees, Joel Dees, EthanWoods and George Laird.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joseph “Gene” Brierre, Eric Buller, Jolane Doucet, and Yvette Shaffer for their outstanding care and commitment to Errol in his time of need.
Memorial contributions can be made in Errol Trahan’s name to Hospice of Acadiana,2600 Johnston St #200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 8AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
