Amber Lalonde becomes Mrs. Brant Abshire
Miss Amber Lalonde of Abbeville and Mr. Brant Abshire of Kaplan, became man and wife during a ceremony held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Abbeville.
Father Kendal Faulk officiated the 7 p.m. nuptials.
The bride is the daughter of Kenny and Colette Lalonde, Jr. of Abbeville. Grandparents are Martha and Kenneth Lalonde, Sr., of Opelousas and the late Maryann and Dicky Broussard of Abbeville.
Parents of the groom are Brent and Melissa Abshire of Kaplan. Grandparents include Ray and Jane Lemaire of Abbeville and the late Minas and Louise Abshire of Kaplan.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Tommy Guidry, organist; Maestro Li, violinist and Jared Gray, trumpeter.
Readings were given by Mia Abshire, sister-in-law of the groom and Brandy Gaspard, sister of the groom.
Ushers included Andrew Goodyear, cousin of the bride; Brent Goodyear, cousin of the bride and Jacob Gaspard, brother-in-law of the groom.
The mother of the bride was escorted by Andrew Goodyear, her nephew. She wore a scalloped boat neckline with a two-tone latte/pumice lace floor length gown featuring a ribbon band at waist and three-quarter length sleeves.
The mother of the groom was escorted by her son. She wore a floor length navy gown with all over ruching with jewel detail on left waist, sheer three-quarter sleeves and a surplice V-neckline.
Escorted by her father, the bride selected a ivory gown with light gold floral lace appliques adorning the bodice before meeting a light gold swirling tulle and chic organza skirt. This fit and flare gown displayed a sweetheart neckline, a gold crystal beaded bridal belt and was finished with a corset back closure.
The gown was accented by a light gold fingertip length veil.
She carried a cascade of ivory calla lilies, ivory open roses, magnolias and stephanotis with white feather and pearls. As a very personal touch, the bride’s deceased grandmother’s rosary was draped over the cascade to finish the design.
Maid of honor was Brandi Lalonde, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids included Miranda Hebert and Skyla pilcher, both cousins of the bride; Ashley Davidson, Michelle Duncan and Rachel Broussard, all friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaid was Claire Richard, godchild of the groom. Flower girl was Anniston Hebert, godchild of the bride.
The attendants wore a floor length burnt orange fit and flare silhouette dress with a contrasting charcoal belt with flower detail, a side front slit, sweetheart neckline and a sweeping train. They carried a hand held nosegay of burnt orange calla lilies with ranunculus, berries, green hydrangeas and feathers. The flower girl wore an ivory floral lace dress with three-quarter sleeves above a full organza ruffle skirt and gold accessories.
Best man was Nolan Suire, friend of the groom. Groomsmen included Brady Abshire, brother of the groom; Kevin Broussard, Andre Couvillon, Shay Hargrave, all friends of the groom; and Kade Dartez, future brother-in-law of the bride. The ring bearer was Tanner Krawchuk, bride’s godchild.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at St. Theresa’s Family Life Center in Abbeville.
Upon their return from a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Kaplan.
