Erath improves to 3-0 in district, Mitchell crosses the 1,000 yard mark

FRANKLIN - The Erath Bobcats now find themselves at 3-0 in the district standings after beating Franklin 47-34 on Friday on the road.
Erath jumped out to a 34-12 lead at halftime and then hung on to win.
Erath tailback Elijah Mitchell had another great night running the pigskin. He ran for 189 yards and scored one touchdown. On the year, Mitchell has now rushed for 1,000-plus yards for the third year in a row.
After six games, he has 1,005 yards.
Scott Moore rushed for his second straight 100-yard game. He had 112 yards on 15 carries. He scored twice for EHS.
Erath quarterback Ben LeBlanc also had a big night rushing the football. LeBlanc ran for 83 yards and scored twice.
The Bobcats scored first when LeBlanc handed the ball off to Mitchell, who ran for a 34 yard touchdown. Dylan Floris nailed the extra point for a 7-0 lead.
The play was set up on Scott Moore’s 47-yard kickoff return to open the game. Mitchell scored on the first play from the 34.
Franklin answered with a score to make it a 7-6 game. They took the kick-off and ran it back 83 yards.
The Bobcats came right back and marched down field and LeBlanc punched it in from the 4. Floris nailed his second extra point for a 14-6 lead.
Once again, Franklin answered with a touchdown, but missed the two-point attempt. Still in the first quarter, Erath was ahead 14-12.
Erath decided to blow it open in the second frame. The Bobcats scored three straight times, two in the second period and one in the third frame.
Moore scooted 30 yards for a touchdown, followed by a 5-yard touchdown run again by Moore late in the second quarter.
The Bobcats threw a rare pass in the third quarter. LeBlanc connected with tight end Jalen Sinegal for a 14-yard touchdown reception.
Floris made another extra point that put EHS up 40-12.
Erath’s Coy LeBlanc had a five-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
