Erath loses a sixth home game; now traveling to play South Plaquemine

When the 2015 Erath Bobcats’ schedule was made, the Bobcats were lucky enough to have six home games. But with the season about to start in three weeks, the Bobcats lost one of their home games last week.
The good news is that EHS still has five home games in 2015.
Last school year, Erath Head Coach David Comeaux received a phone call from Cathedral of Nachez head football coach looking to see if Erath wanted to play them. Comeaux informed the coach Erath was not going to travel to Mississippi to play because of the distance. The Cathedral coach agreed they would travel to Erath twice. Erath added them onto the 2015 schedule.
Cathedral went on to win the Class 1A Mississippi High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) state title in 2015.
Then the MHSAA ruled that Cathedral could no longer let Louisiana students enroll in the Mississippi school and compete in athletics. Cathedral quit the MHSAA because of the ruling and went into an independent league, cancelling their 2015 schedule.
The date penciled in for Cathedral to play Erath was Oct. 16.
Cathedral made a new schedule recently and Erath was not on it. Last week Coach Comeaux began calling around the state to see who had an open playing date for Oct. 16.
Class 2A South Plaquemine was the only school with an opened Oct. 16 day, so Erath agreed to play them.
This season, the Bobcats are going to have to travel to South Plaquemine, which is located south of New Orleans.
Coach Comeaux is hoping to convince the South Plaquemine coach to play at a central location like Nicholls State Football Stadium in Thidodaux. As of Thursday, he has not heard back from the South Plaquemine head coach on where the game will be played.
