QSA 10s blow out Welsh in do or die game on Sunday
ERATH - The QSA 10-and-under All-Stars were in a win or go home situation Sunday afternoon in the third day of the Pony Regional Tournament.
Welsh and QSA faced each other in the elimination game of the tournament. The winner moves on, while the loser goes home.
Despite falling behind 6-3 after the second inning, QSA went on to cruise to a 18-7 victory.
In the top of the fourth frame, QSA battled back and tied it 7-7. With runners on second and third base and 7-6, Cameron Durke smacked an RBI double for the tying run.
Ryan Fobbs, who was on second base, would score on a throwing error that put QSA ahead 8-7.
Austin Hebert came on to pitch for QSA in the top of the fourth inning and retired three straight Welsh batters.
QSA’s bats got hot in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring 10 runs, including 7 in the top of the sixth inning.
In the fifth frame, Bo Lancon, Landon Stubblefield and Thomas Collins had RBI singles.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Welsh was threatening with the bases loaded and two outs. Stubblefield came on as relief for Hebert on the hill. On his first pitch thrown, he got a Welsh batter to line out to Lancon for the third out and stop the threat.
QSA put the game away in its final at bat.
Fobbs led off the inning and would later score on Colin Broussard’s RBI-bunt. Hebert followed with a walk and Sage Suire had a hit to knock in Broussard.
Christen Migues knocked in two runs with a single and Lancon had an RBI single of his own. He would later steal home. Stubblefield sealed the game with an RBI -double to make it a 18-7 game.
