High speed chase in Abbeville leads to one arrest

A high speed car chase through Abbeville landed one man in jail who is allegedly to have committee more than 60 traffic violations during the chase.
Monday at approximately 3 p.m., an officer of the Abbeville Police Department made a traffic stop on a silver Dodge Charger on Alan’s Lane for reckless operation.
When the officer exited his unit, the vehicle sped away from the officer. The vehicle traveled throughout the Abbeville and around the outskirts of the city limits.
Due to the high volume of traffic on the roadway and the excessive speeds being driven by the Charger, APD terminated the pursuit while the vehicle was outside the city limits.
A few minutes after the termination of the pursuit, other officers observed the same Dodge Charger, back inside the city limits and driving reckless.
The officers again began to pursue the vehicle which traveled at a high rate of speed throughout the residential areas of
Abbeville.
The vehicle was pursued down to the dead end of Lake Street where the vehicle traveled through the yard of a residence and stopped near the Vermilion River.
The driver exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.
The driver, Justin St Julien, 27, of Lafayette was arrested and charged with multiple traffic charges including Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle upon a Police Officer, Reckless Operation, Resisting an Officer, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a CDS with a Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
