Local athletes earn All-District honors in 7-1A softball

Thirteen total Vermilion Parish softball players earned a spot on either the first or second teams in District 7-1A.
On the first team for the Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles are: Pitcher Taylor Abshire, outfielder Bella Doucet and Caroline David earned a utility spot.
For Gueydan, Freshman Ashari Terry earned first-team as a shortstop and Cheyenne Lacomb earned a utility spot.
The eight players who were selected to the second team are: Gueydan’s Maya Vincent (third base), Sheridan Guidry (outfield) and Gwen Hebert (outfield), Vermilion Catholic’s Zanesia Bernard (first base), Lexi Langlinais (second base), Leah Camel (third base), Haley Faulk (outfielder) and Alison Broussard (shortstop).
VC’s Mary Meaux and Kelsey Michel earned honorable mention consideration as well as Sydney Zaumbrecher, Lindsey Vidalia, Ali Bourque and Emily Gaspard from Gueydan.
Joe Russo from the state champion Central Catholic Lady Eagles and Brittany Broussard from Hanson were selected to share coach of the year honors in 7-1A and Central Catholic pitcher Megan Landry along with Hanson’s Sarah Sonnier shared MVP honors.
