N.R. Broussard agrees to purchase Abbeville Country Club
James Noel of Sunrise Realty announced this week that N. R. Broussard has entered into a purchase agreement to buy the Abbeville Country Club.
The Club consists of 105 acres with a clubhouse, swimming pool, cart shed and many other improvements.
Broussard is well known in the Abbeville area as forming the original Broussard Brothers Company in 1947 and has expanded it into one of the largest conglomerates in the parish employing more than 450 people.
For the past three or four months, there has been a lot of talk and excitement about a Vietnamese billionaire operating his business out of Shanghai, China, being interested in purchasing the Club.
Kieu Hoang, owner and CEO of RAAS Corp. and Shanghai RAAS had intentions of purchasing the Club and doing a complete renovation of the golf course and Clubhouse. After roughly three months of trying to negotiate the purchase of additional property for expansion of the Club to accommodate the plans that Hoang had for its renovation, the deal fell apart when no additional property was available for sale.
At this point Broussard decided he would purchase the Country Club and has no immediate plans for any changes at the club until they take over on March 31, 2015 and have a chance to analyze the current operations.
“Being the good businessman and track record that he has for building a successful business, there is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Broussard will make it a success and make it a Club that Abbeville can be proud of,” Noel stated.
