North Vermilion honors Michael Dartez at basketball game

At Wednesday’s final regular season game for the North Vermilion Patriots, NV’s Michael Dartez became an honorary starter against Erath High School. (Photo on the left) North Vermilion won the tip and Dartez got the ball and scored the first two points of the game. NV went on to win the game 41-30. Some of the NV students (above) displayed a sign when Dartez went into the game.
Dartez, 19, has a neurological disorder and is in the self contained class at NVHS. He participates In the DREAMS foundation basketball and special Olympics basketball programs. He is the son of Scott and Rachael Dartez. He also has two sisters, Ann-Kathryn and Alaina Dartez. They both are students at NVHS.
