New Iberia – Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Wilson J. Romero, Jr., the former Mary Trahan, 67, on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at 4:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Patrick Burke officiating.
Visitation was on Sunday, December 28, 2014, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM and a rosary was prayed in the funeral home at 2:30 PM.
A native of Maurice and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Romero passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014, at 7:08 AM in a New Iberia hospital.
She was a member of the National Ataxia Foundation and served on the Board of the Louisiana Chapter and attended many annual conventions of the NAF. She loved family gatherings to visit with her family members and enjoyed shopping.
She is survived by her husband, Wilson J. Romero, Jr. of New Iberia; her son, Ryan Romero and his wife Shelley of Houston, TX; her sister, Judy T. Mire and her husband Tony of Kaplan; her grandchildren, Ava and Callie Romero both of Houston, TX; her sister-in-laws, Barbara Dugas and her husband F. J. of New Iberia and Kathy Dorsey of Lake Charles; her godchild and niece, Kasy Mire of Maurice, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Victor A. Trahan; her mother, Eurledine LaPoint Trahan and her brother, John E. Trahan.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver, Donna Rueda, and to Ryan Domengeaux for his help in making Mary’s last wish possible.
