North Vermilion boys reach finals in Erath tournament

ERATH - The North Vermilion Patriots advanced to the finals of the Erath Tournament on Thursday after nipping Hanson 48-42.
North Vermilion played Highland Baptist from New Iberia in the finals Saturday afternoon. The game was still in process when the Meridional went to press on Saturday.
The Patriots found themselves behind 18-10 at the end of the first period in Thursday’s game.
But then North Vermilon got hot and outscored Hanson 15-5 in the second period. NV held a 25-22 halftime lead.
NV only led 31-29 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Patriots held off Hanson by outscoring them 17-12 in the fourth frame.
Mike Bessard led NV with his inside game. He had 18 points.
Blake Turner scored 10 and Jordan Windmon and Donald Comeaux each made nine points. Dade Dieterich added two.
Comeaux made a three-pointer, while Turner knocked in two three pointers.
Kayse Brown led Hanson with 14 points.
