Vermilion Parish Superintendent Puyau named State 4-H Superintendent of the Year
The Vermilion School Board recognized Superintendent Jerome Puyau as the 2014 Louisiana 4-H Superintendent.
Each year during the 4-H University banquet, one parish school board superintendent is recognized for his/her contributions to 4-H. It’s an opportunity to recognize individuals who have contributed so much to the success of parish and state 4-H programs. The recipient is recognized at the awards banquet and honored for their support of the educational efforts of the 4-H Youth Development program. He was recognized at a state 4-H banquet at LSU.
The following is the write up we submitted for Puyau’s nomination:
“Vermilion Parish School Superintendent Jerome Puyau has shown unprecedented support of the parish 4-H program throughout his tenure in this position. In addition to traditional support of in-school clubs, he has solidified the 4-H/school board partnership by requiring all students enrolled in the Vermilion Virtual Academy to join 4-H and participate in weekly, hands-on lab experiences related to their course work. This has drawn new audiences to our program and inspired non-traditional youth to become involved. He has a true appreciation for what the 4-H program can “bring to the table” when it comes to educating the youth of our parish.”
Puyau said, “Being nominated for the 4-H Superintendent’s Award was an honor in itself, but I was truly humbled when I learned I would receive the award. This award signifies the strong partnership between the Vermilion Parish School Board an our local 4-H program and our continued support of the innovative educational opportunities that we have developed together over the past year. We have strong leadership at all levels of our school system and will continue to build upon our success and promote the great parish that we live in.”
