Delcambre hosts Jeanerette Friday
The Delcambre Panthers hope to rebound from a 28-point loss last week when they play the Jeanerette Tigers Friday.
Delcambre (3-4, 1-1) had won back-to-back games against Port Barre and Westminster before traveling to meet Loreauville last week.
The Panthers gave up 489 yards of offense to Loreauville in a 50-22 game. Loreauville gained most of their yardage rushing, where they earned 340 yards.
Loreauville quarterback Jared Henry rushed for 134 yards and three scores.
He went 9-14 passing with 149 yards.
Delcambre was able to move the ball to some degree against the Loreauville defense. The team rushed for 168 yards, with Bubba Latiolais leading the way with 88 yards and one score. Oliver Nunez had 66 yards on the night.
So far this season, Latiolais is fourth in the area with 412 yards rushing. He also has five touchdowns on the year.
Quarterback Zachary Trahan has completed 11-out-of-25 passes for 182 yards and two scores.
Jeanerette (2-5, 0-2) enters the game ranked No. 23 in the LHSAA power rankings, four spots ahead of Delcambre at No. 27.
The leading receiver for Delcambre is Seth Esponge.
Esponge has four receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown.
Jeanerette is coming off of two straight losses to district powerhouses Catholic High of New Iberia and Opelousas Catholic by a combined score of 105-6.
Berwick and North Central were the two wins that Jeanerette earned up to this point. The Tigers will be looking to avenge a 41-6 loss they suffered at the hands of Delcambre last year.
Both teams have already eclipsed their win totals from last year, as they battle for one of the spots in the middle of the pack, with three games remaining in the season in a district that is top heavy with teams like Catholic High, Opelousas Catholic and Loreauville.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
