North Vermilion celebrating homecoming week
LEROY — Homecoming festivities have begun for North Vermilion High School and will conclude on Saturday, October 25.
This year’s theme revolves around music. Patriots are “Tuning in to 201.4 PATS.”
Students began the week on Sunday by attending a parking lot party filled with music and food to decorate their class floats and class-themed halls on campus.
This year’s Homecoming King Court will be presented on Tuesday, October 21 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Immediately following the court presentation will be the classes competing in flag football. The first game will see the Juniors taking on the Freshmen, followed by the Seniors and Sophomores, then the championship game. Admission is $3.00.
On Thursday, October 23, the annual NV Homecoming Parade will begin at 6 p.m. Mrs. Denise Nugent will serve as this year’s grand marshal. Any alumni class or North Vermilion youth organization that would like to ride in the parade should contact Mrs. Vicki Picard (898-1491) by 2:00 p.m. today.
For the first time in the school’s history, NV alumni are invited to attend and participate in the pep rally beginning at 11:45 a.m. in the school’s gymnasium.
The Patriots will take on the West St. Mary Wolfpack Friday night. The presentation of the 2014 Homecoming Court will begin 6:15, and this year’s queen will be announced at halftime. North Vermilion classes of 1984 (30 years), 1989 (25 years), 1994 (20 years), and 2004 (10 years) will be celebrating their reunions. The classes of 1944, 1954, 1964, and 1974 from Meaux, Maurice, and Indian Bayou will also be honored and are encouraged to participate.
Students will round out the week’s festivities with the Homecoming dance Saturday, October 25 with the King, Queen and their courts being presented at 8:00 p.m.
