Gueydan looks to avoid 0-4 start, face Hurricanes

he Gueydan Bears are hoping to get their first win in their homecoming game Friday night versus North Central.
Injuries and lack of size have led to the 0-3 start so far for the Bears. Gueydan fought hard, but fell short in a loss to Sacred Heart of Ville Platte last Friday in a 35-12 loss.
One bright spot for the Bears was their running game. The rushing attack was led by Malik Criner who finished the game with 97 yards on 17 attempts. Trevor Breaux was the second leading rusher, finishing the game with 73 yards on 14 carries. Trevor Ladelle finished with 56 yards on 16 carries.
Struggles to finish long methodical drives, eventually led to the lopsided loss.
“I was proud of the way our guys competed in that game, but we have to be able to finish drives” said head coach Jay Landry.
North Central enters the game 0-3, after losing 39-6 at Highland Baptist. The Hurricanes are searching for answers early in the year. The team has been outscored 103-14 in their three losses.
The contest should be a close one, as both teams hope to get their first win of the season and avoid a dreaded 0-4 start.
