Loreauville too much for North Vermilion

LOREAUVILLE- The North Vermilion Patriots’ season continued on the wrong path Friday night against the Loreauville Tigers.
Loreauville, a Class 2A team, jumped all over North Vermilion, beating them 35-7. With this loss, this is the third consecutive loss for the Patriots, and the team is 0-3 in head coach Richard Prejean’s first year.
The Tigers got on the board first with a score in the first quarter with a touchdown. North Vermilion responded with its only score of the game, a Ryan Thompson 3-yard touchdown run.
Loreauville led 13-7 at halftime, and began to open up their lead in the third quarter, scoring 14 points. The Tigers added another touchdown as well as a successful two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to end their night.
North Vermilion quarterback Ty Desormeaux went 12-for-18 throwing for 126 yards and one interception.
The Tiger defense clamped down on the Patriots running game, holding them to only 84 yards rushing on the night. Taylor Abshire led the way for North Vermilion with 66 yards on 16 carries. Flavors Caldwell added 20 yards on six attempts.
With high expectations heading into the season, the Patriots have disappointed up to this point. There is still time for them to turn it around in Prejean’s first year and live up to those expectations.
North Vermilion is back in action next Friday when it travels to Plaquemine to play St. John.
