VC' Hunter Frith has thrown for 719 yards in three games

For a person who never threw a pass in high school as a quarterback, VC’s Hunter Frith is off to a great start after three games at quarterback.
The junior rookie quarterback, in three games, has thrown for an amazing 719 yards and has completed more than 50 percent of his passes (54 out of 99).
This past Friday, Frith put up impressive numbers throwing the football against Class 3A Erath Bobcats.
He finished the game completing 23 out of 35 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns. He has now thrown five touchdown passes.
In the first half, Frith connected on his first nine passes for almost 100 yards.
Each game is a learning experience for Frith, and he is getting better as he settles in.
“It is still nerve racking playing quarterback but I am getting better at learning the system,” Frith said after beating Erath 35-30. “I am learning the plays and it is all beginning to sink in.”
Thus far, the biggest challenge for Frith at quarterback has been learning the opponent’s defense and making the right reads, he said.
Many of Frith’s passes Friday were short passes that went for long yards. He had only a handful that flew more than 30 yards in the air. Coming into the game, Frith said that was the game-plan, to throw short passes because Erath’s corners were playing off the football.
“Their corners were really deep, so that was five yards a play. We will take that all night,” he said.
Frith likes to spread the throws to different targets.
Tyler Derouen was the top receiver with eight catches for 111 yards on Friday. Many of his passes were caught out of the backfield.
Emile Trahan had four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown.
Chris Campbell had five for 40, while Payton Trahan (4-35), Andre Girouard (1-22) and William Noegel (1-3) had other receptions.
If Frith continues to throw the football like he has been over the last three games, the 2,000-yard mark could be reached by Week 10.
