No injuries after multiple rounds fired into vehicle in Abbeville

Abbeville police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.
Police responded to a call of shots fired at 2:59 a.m. after someone reportedly fired multiple rounds into a car parked near Jade’s Lounge at the corner of North Miles Street and Graceland Avenue.
Abbeville Police Department Lt. David Hardy said two people were inside at the time, but neither sustained injuries.
“The investigation revealed that a female subject and a male subject were inside the vehicle,” Hardy said. “Neither subject was struck by any of the rounds.”
Another male subject was reportedly seen fleeing the area on foot before entering a nearby vehicle, which left the scene.
The department continued to work multiple leads Monday morning.
“We are actively seeking information as to who the shooter may be,” Hardy said.
Hardy added that he could not confirm if the shooting had any connection to what happened Saturday night at the Woodmen of the World Hall outside of Abbeville. An alleged altercation resulted in seven people being shot. That case is being handled by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“We believe there may be a connection, but that is not something that we can confirm at this time,” Hardy said.
