Chris Hebert to run for Erath councilman seat

Erath City Councilman Chris P. Hebert released the following statement in announcing his candidacy for re-election:
“On April 5th, the people of Erath honored me by electing me to serve on the City Council. I have enjoyed serving as your representative for the past four months, and look forward to serving you for the next four years. I feel that I have new ideas to offer that will benefit our town. The election will be on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, and I humbly ask for your vote and support. Please join me in my quest to build a brighter future for Erath by voting for my re-election to the Erath City Council.
“I am a lifelong resident of Erath. My parents are the late Preston and Louise Hebert. I am married to the former Yvette Dubois, a longtime teacher at Erath High School. We are the proud parents of Nicole, Andrea, and Kristen; and the grandparents of Elise, John Paul, and Jax. I graduated from Erath High School in 1989. Upon graduation, I went to work in the oil field service industry and have been employed by Preferred Electric for the past 19 years.
“I am blessed to have grown up in the community of Erath. Erath is a wonderful place for children to grow and prosper. I believe that the children of Erath are our future. This is why I have dedicated so much of my life to them. I volunteered many years as a coach in the Erath Youth Baseball. As my children grew older, I began volunteering my time at Erath High School. Over the years, I served as an assistant coach in football, baseball, and basketball, and head coach of the Erath High School Softball team. Today, I assist with coaching basketball and baseball at Erath High School.
“I am an active member of the Erath Backers Club, where I served for two years as vice-president and five years as president. I also served as chairman of two of the Backers Club’s most successful fundraisers; the Erath Century Club and the annual Crawfish Blowout. I am also a member of the Erath 4th of July Association. Every year, I work in the ticket booths, the beer booth, and assist in lining up the 4th of July parade. My family and I attend church at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath.
"Over the next few weeks, I will again be walking door to door to share my ideas about Erath’s future with you. Together, we will build a brighter future for Erath to pass along to the next generation.”
