Robert Vincent will run for Erath councilman seat
Robert B. Vincent issued the following statement in announcing that he will be a candidate for the Erath City Council in the upcoming election. The election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
“It is with great excitement that I announce my candidacy for the Erath City Council. I have a deep love for Erath and a strong commitment to see that the Town of Erath has a better, stronger, more united government. The decisions we make today will affect our citizens for years to come.
“I possess the knowledge and experience to serve as your City Councilman. I had the honor of serving the people of Erath on the City Council from 1999 to 2002. I want to be your voice on the council that leads our town into the future.
“ I am a 1997 graduate of Erath High School. Upon graduation, I enrolled at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where I earned my undergraduate degree in Business Administration in 2002 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2004. I then received my Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 2010, and was admitted to the practice of law that year. I have been practicing law in Erath since January 2011, and serving as Prosecutor for the Town of Erath since that time.
“Erath is dear to my heart. I love this town and its people. I have always felt that it is my responsibility to give back to my community. I have had the honor of serving as the President of the Erath 4th of July Association since 2003. The Erath 4th of July Celebration goes back to the 1930s, and is a treasured event of our town. The Erath 4th of July Association has been able to accomplish so many good things in our community and our schools.
“I am also on the Board of Directors of the Acadian Museum of Erath; the Erath Community Building Association; and member of the Board of Commissioners of the Erath Housing Authority. I am also a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. These organizations strive to make our community the best it can be for all of its citizens.
“ I believe that Erath’s future will be lead by the children of today. It is so important that we provide them every tool possible to ensure their success. I have been a vocal supporter of our schools. I have helped to obtain grants to purchase technology to better prepare our children for the future.
“In order to help student athletics of Erath, I joined the Erath Backers Club the year I graduated in 1997. I have served as a member of the Board of Directors of that organization since 1997; and as Treasurer since 2000. The Backers Club works tirelessly to provide every available opportunity and equipment for Erath students to succeed.
“ I have been blessed with many opportunities that have shaped my life – a strong family, a good education and a wonderful supporting community. It is my desire to give back to this community by providing effective and ethical leadership. I believe in doing the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons, in the right time. It is the right time for me to seek another term on the Erath City Council. I enjoy challenges and look forward to serving the people of Erath. I humbly ask for your vote and your support as I begin this campaign.”
