Truck crashes into house in Gross Isle on La. 14 near Abbeville
Guy and Marla Dyson were sitting in their home eating breakfast when they heard the crash. A Ford truck, driven by Duff Richard of Delcambre, crashed into the front of their house, just missing Guy’s parked truck.
The accident occurred Tuesday morning at the intersection of Gross Isle Road and La. 14, east of Abbeville.
According to the Louisiana State Police, who worked the accident, Glenda Cormier was given a ticket for failure to yield at a stop sign. Cormier, driving a 1999 Lincoln Towncar, was driving on Gross Isle Road and did not stop at the intersection of La. 14 and Gross Isle Road, hitting Richard who was driving on La. 14 towards Abbeville.
The impact caused Richard to go right, pass through the Dyson’s front yard, hitting the front of their house.
Richard was wearing his seat belt, but it was unknown if Cormier was.
The Dyson house had damage. Bricks at the corner of the home were knocked off. The solid house wall stopped the Ford truck from entering into the house.
Richard and Cormier had minor injuries.
