A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Lena M. Brown 82 the former Lena Meaux at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday August 9, 2014 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Abbeville LA with Deacon David Vaughn officiating. She will await the resurrection at St. Paul Cemetery, Abbeville, LA.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday at the funeral home at 7 a.m. until the time of service, with a rosary recited at 9 a.m.
A native and resident of Abbeville, LA she passed at 8:05 p.m. on August 1, 2014 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her nieces, Judy Levy (Larry), Lydia Harrison (Alvin), of Abbeville, Terrilyn Nunez (Christopher) of Houston, TX, Kamesha Scott (Keith), Pamela Lewis, Latasha Fletcher (Lawrence) all of Abbeville, LA; her nephews she reared as her own, Timothy Edwards of California, James Moore Sr. of Kaplan, LA, Larry Moore (Kristen) and Travis Moore (Starya) all of Abbeville, LA; her godchildren, Travin Moore and Kendrick Vallier both of Abbeville, LA; a special friend, Oris Morris “Rickey, Jr.” of Abbeville; a devoted cousin and caretaker, Cornelius Darby of Abbeville, her neighbors Sharon and Elliott Parker, and a host of other friends.
She now joins in glory with her husband, Whitney Brown; her sister Wilda Meaux; three brothers, Henry Meaux, John Meaux, Jr., and Joseph Meaux; her parents, John Meaux, Sr. and Mary Davis Meaux; lifelong companion, Lurcy O'brien.
Active pallbearers will be Alfred Viltz, Keith Scott, Lawrence Fletcher, Loderrick Linton, Carlton Moore, Kenneth Moore, Jr. and Marlin Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will James Moore, Travin Moore, Larry Moore, Jr., Larry Moore, Sr., Christopher Nunez, Oris Morris, Jr., and Wayne Sparrow.
