Henry Volunteer Fire Department will receive $111,000 in grant money

HENRY - U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) today announced that the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters grant program will award a total of $440,681 to four fire departments in Vermillion, Bienville, Morehouse and Lafayette Parishes.
The Henry Volunteer Fire Department will receive $111,711.
“Local firefighters’ hard work to protect families throughout Louisiana cannot be undervalued,” Vitter said. “Ensuring safety for all people in Louisiana continues to be a top responsibility.”
The funds from these grants will be used to improve the safety of the public and first responder personnel, and will fund training programs, critical equipment, improvements to facilities and other firefighting supplies.
Other departments getting money are: Bienville Parish Fire Protection District 6 in Castor will receive $79,040. Ward 8 Fire Protection District 1 in Collinston will receive $79,515. Lafayette Consolidated Government Fire Department will receive $170,415.
