29’ers win final road game of the season
The Gulf Coast Bank Abbeville 29’ers had to travel one last time to finish off their season.
The 29’ers traveled to take on Northside on Tuesday night, and walked out of there with a 10-2 victory.
In the process of winning this game the 29’ers qualified for the regional tournament.
That tournament will be played on July 19 in New Orleans.
As for the game itself, the 29’ers got on the board early.
Drake Broussard led things off with a single, and was followed by a Wes Meaux single.
Jace Harrington got the 29’ers on the board with an RBI double.
Taylor Abshire would then hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Meaux, and Harrington later scored on a Ryan Meaux single to right center.
This would give the 29’ers the early 3-0 lead.
It would be enough to win the game, but the 29’ers would score one more run in the bottom of the second, and then two inning later scored five runs in the top of the fourth.
They would finish the game with a run in the top of the seventh inning to make the final score 10-2.
Harrington started the game on the mound for the 29’ers and he got a three run lead before he ever took the mound, and that would prove to be a big enough margin for Harrington.
In his time on the mound Harrington only allowed two runs on six hits.
He also struck out nine batters in the process.
This game was suppose to be the last game of the regular season for the 29’ers, but early yesterday afternoon a make-up game was scheduled for 6 p.m. last night.
After that game the 29’ers will be done with the regular season, and then will move on to the regional tournament in New Orleans.
