Vision of Hope Inc. and there partners celebrated opening ceremonies.
Vision of Hope Inc. under the leadership of Bishop B. K. Stevens of the Faith Hope Missionary Baptist Church, has organized a summer t-ball league.
“It is wonderful that we were able to get this league off and running,” Stevens said. “I am just thrilled that we were able to get the league going.”
Sunday June 22, was opening day for the league.
Rev. Travis Harrison officiated at the opening and during the games.
There were over a 100 parents, grandparents, fans and supporters on hand for the wonderful event.
“All of this happened because of the volunteers,” Stevens said. “It has been a community effort, and we needed everyone to pitch in and help and they did just that.”
The young athletes brought many laughs, applauds and cheers, some even dazzle the crowed and played the game far better than what was expected for their ages.
“The kids were very excited,” Stevens said. “The look on their faces when they got to put on the jersey and hats. It was a pleasure to see those kids so happy.
There are seven teams in the league and each team is schedule to play four games.
“We had about four or five coaches that came out and said they would help us,” Stevens said. “We also had a bunch of other kids that showed up during the opening ceremonies, and we were able to filed another two teams, which is very exciting.
“It was also nice to see the kids asking their coaches when the next practice is. I think the kids are very excited, and this will be a great thing for the community.”
All are invited to come out and support your favorite team and the league at no cost.
Funds from the concession will help to support the league.
