Come rain or shine

Baseball is America’s past time, but sometimes mother nature can play a role in the out come of the baseball game.
Tuesday afternoon mother nature reared her ugly head and went and rained out all of the baseball games in the Abbeville area.
Just because the baseball games were rained-out, that didn’t stop some local Abbeville kids from having a little fun, and getting in a little extra practice time.
Billy Arceneaux, Trey Montagne, Damin Landry, Hogan Landry, Garrett Hebert and Shae Montagne decided to use the slightly muddy fields at A.A. Comeaux Park to get in a little extra practice time.
When asked why they decided to show up even though their game had been cancelled, they all responded in one way or another that this is what they love to do, and they wouldn’t want to be any where else.
“This is just the game of baseball,” Billy Arceneaux said. “We are having a lot of fun, and on top of that we love to practice.”
All of the boys play for the Abbeville BigBoys of the Abbeville summer league.
Every single one of the kids playing say that despite the weather they are having a blast in the summer league.
“It gives us a chance to play more baseball,” Damin Landry said. “Plus, we have friends on the other teams and that helps make all of the games that much more fun.”
These kids are the very reason why baseball is America’s past time.
Even when mother nature says they can’t play, these kids don’t let a little rain stop them from having fun with the sport that they love.
