29’ers make quick work of Northside

Entering the game on Tuesday night the Abbeville 29’ers had played six games in five days, and the game against Northside made seven games in six days.
Needless to say, the team was tired and running on fumes.
According to head coach Darin Desormeaux the team needed a quick game so they could get a little rest, and they got just that with a 13-1 victory in three innings over Northside.
“We needed a good quick victory,” Desormeaux said. “We have some tired arms, and some aching legs, and this is exactly what I hoped for tonight. I was glad to see that we were able to put the bat on the ball and score some early runs.”
Early runs is an understatement for the 29’ers.
In the bottom half of the first inning the 29’ers put up 13 runs.
The highlight of the inning was the Jace Harrington two-run home run to left field.
When three outs were finally recorded in the bottom of the first the 29’ers score 13 runs on seven hits.
They also drew seven walks, and batted around the lineup twice.
“We played a good game tonight, and all around we played well tonight” first baseman Ryan Meaux said. “Our team really needed this win. We needed something to kind of get outr minds off of baseball and to have some fun, and we got that.”
Ty Desormeaux pitched well in the three inning he was on the mound.
Over the course of his time on the mound Desormeaux only allowed one run on two hits. He also struck out six batters.
The 29’ers got a break on Wednesday night, and will be back in action tonight as they will play host to Comeaux.
Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Sellers field, but the game will start soon after the Abbeville Eagles game is completed.
