Abbeville man commits armed robbery with air pistol
One man found out the hard way that if you commit an alleged armed robbery with an air pistol, it is going to land you in jail.
Ron Landry of Abbeville learned that lesson recently.
Landry and a minor allegedly robbed two people in a parked car in Live Oak Manner Apartments. Over the weekend, Landry was arrested for the crime. He was charged with armed robbery and resisting arrest. The police are still searching for the minor.
Landry’s bond was set at $250,000. He remains in jail as of Monday.
According to Lt David Hardy of the police department, two people in a car were driving on Martin Luther King Drive near Live Oak Manner Apartments. Allegedly, Landry and a minor tried to get the driver to stop his vehicle, but he did not.
Landry and the minor each hopped on a bike and took off after the car on Martin Luther King Drive. The car turned into the Live Oak Manner Apartments and stopped.
Landry and the minor jumped into the back seat of the car and, allegedly, one of the two, put the air pistol to the head of the passenger. The driver was told to go around the block as the two sat in the backseat of the vehicle.
They drove back to the apartments and jumped out of the car and onto their bikes. They allegedly took a cell phone and a knife.
The police were able to figure out who the two men were and went looking for them.
Landry was found in the Live Oak Apartments. When the police went to arrest him, he began to run. The police tackled him and put him in hand cuffs.
