Abbeville 29’ers baseball team

The 2014 American Legion season gets underway this week.
The city of Abbeville is fortunate enough to have two teams that will be competing.
The Abbeville 29’ers are managed by Darin Desormeaux.
His team will be comprised of kids from all over Vermilion Parish.
The American Legion season is only about a month long, but it gives the kids that are playing a way to stay in baseball shape.
It also gives them a chance to learn a little bit extra and get that much better for when the baseball season rolls around during the school year.
One athlete that is looking forward to the American Legion schedule is Donald Comeaux.
“I have a lot of work to do this summer,” Donald Comeaux said. “Between the legion schedule and then playing baseball on the weekends, I will have a busy season. It is good for me though. It gives me a chance to continue working on my game, and I get better and better each and every year.
Plus it is amazing how much the legion season helps me stay in shape, and get prepared for not only the next baseball season, but basketball season as well.”
Comeaux is only one of the 17 athletes from all over Vermilion Parish that will be participating on the 29’ers team.
The other team taking part in the American Legion this year will be the Abbeville Eagle.
They will be coached by Vermilion Catholic’s head baseball coach Steven Adams.
So, if you are craving some good summer baseball action, and also enjoy seeing some kids honing their skills then make sure that you check out some of the 29’ers and Eagle’s game over the course of the month.
It will be a good chance to see some of the future prospects of Vermilion Parish.
