Erath Fourth of July Celebration begins with BBQ cook-off next week

ERATH - Although the Erath Fourth of July Celebration is almost a month away, activities begin next week in Erath.
The 19th Annual Bar-B-Que Cook-Off will be Saturday, June 7, to kick off the celebration.
The cook-off will be held at the Quality Sports Authority RV Park, located on the North Road.
This year, the Fourth of July Association is doing the cook-off different.
Judging will begin at 5 p.m. and the winners will be announced at 6 p.m.
There will be a “Grand Champion” named and given a cash prize.
Homemade pie and dessert contests also. Entries turned in by 3:15 p.m. that day.
After the winners are announced, the party will continue with the playing of two bands, CajuNation and Side Show.
Also, there will be Potato Relays, cracker and watermelon eating contests throughout the cook-off.
You can cook beef, pork, chicken or other.
