Pile of trash in Maurice still there

MAURICE - Despite the Vermilion Parish Police Jury agreeing to pick up the pile of trash, the pile of trash has yet to be removed along side of La. 92 in the city limits of Maurice. It has been there for more than two months.
What’s the hold up?
Someone needs to push the pile of trash created from a torn down house. The trash needs to be moved away from electrical wires that hang low and are not far above the pile of trash.
Will it be the police jury, the property owner or the Village of Maurice?
Because of the wires, the police jury is concerned it would hit the electrical wires when picking up the garbage and has refused to remove the trash.
The police jury is not 100 percent sure who the landowner is.
At Monday’s police jury meeting, the jurors talked about who is going to push the pile of trash away from under the wire.
Juror Allen LeMaire asked why the police jury has yet to pick it up, and he was educated on the danger of the hanging electrical wires.
Juror Mark Poché said, “Why doesn’t the Village of Maurice go with its backhoe and move it?”
Police Juror Attorney Paul Moresi III said an attempt will be made to contact the owner of the property and have him or her come into the police jury office and sign a paper saying a hired contractor did not knock down the house. It was done by the landowner, the paper will say.
If the house was knocked down by a contractor, the police jury could charge the contractor for the removal of the trash after it is removed by the police jury.
