ABBEVILLE — Funeral services for Ms. Louise “Dee Dee” Briggs is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Kinchen Funeral Home - 218 N. St. Valerie Street - Abbeville, LA (337) 898-9595. She will await the resurrection in the Hill-Rudd Cemetery. Rev. Darrel Thibeaux will officiate the service.
Ms. Louise Briggs, a long time resident of Abbeville passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 while a resident at Maison du Monde Nursing Facility in Abbeville, LA.
She is survived by by four daughters, Sandra Harris (Carl) Stephine Mitchell (George), Catherine Harrison (Eldrige), all of Abbeville, LA and Pearl Petry Sanders of Baltimore, MD; two sons, Zachery Briggs and Joseph Briggs of Abbeville, LA; one step-daughter, Patrina Petry; twenty-two grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends; one sister, Winnie Davis; and two brothers, Donald Briggs of Abbeville, LA, and Vernon Briggs of San Antonio, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludrick Briggs and Ishma Elvie Levine; one daughter, Glenda Briggs; one son, Warren Briggs; six brothers, Wilmer Briggs, Al Sherman Briggs, Francis Briggs, Lyman Briggs, Raymond Briggs, and Frank Adam, Jr.; two sisters, Rose Marie Davis and Rachael Mouton; one step-daughter, Kim Petry; one step-son, Marion Petry, Jr; and one grandchild, Morris Sanders.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 7:00 A.M. until the time of the service in the chapel of the funeral home. Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of final arrangements.
