Patriots get comeback win over Pios

The North Vermilion Patriots baseball team has done a lot of winning this year, and have not trailed much this season.
The Patriots squared off against their district rivals, the Notre Dame Pioneers, and for the first time all year had to come from behind in their last a bat, to win by the final score of 7-6.
The Patriots grabbed the lead in the top of the second inning, when Donald Comeaux scored on an RBI single by Chance Carriere, to give the Patriots the 1-0 lead.
It would not take the Pios long to answer.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Pios would get to starting pitcher Donald Comeaux, to the tune of three runs on five hits, to take a 3-1 lead.
The fourth inning would go by quietly, but in the top of the fifth, Comeaux helped himself out by hitting a triple to plate two runs for the Patriots and bring the score to 3-3.
The Pios would rebound quickly, as they were able to get to Comeaux again for another three run inning in the bottom of the fifth, to make the score 6-3 Notre Dame.
The Patriots entered their final at bat, in the top of the seventh inning, down by three runs.
The Patriots quickly loaded the bases and Comeaux hit a two RBI double to close the gap to 6-5.
The very next batter, Ryan Thompson, would get an RBI single to tie the game at 6-6.
Ryan Meaux would then step-up to the plate and hit an RBI grounder, to score the eventual game winning run.
Comeaux then forced the Pios to go three up three down to win 7-6.
Comeaux would get his seventh win of the season on the mound as he pitched a complete game for the Patriots. He allowed six runs on eight hits, to go along with him striking out 11 Pios’ batters.
He also led the Patriots at the plate. By going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs.
Thompson was 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI.
The Patriots record now stands at 22-2 overall and 5-0 in district play.
Their record is also good enough to have them in the fourth in the current power rankings.
The Patriots return to the field tonight as they take on Notre Dame again, this time at North Vermilion.
Game time is set for 4 p.m.
