Patriots rebound quickly
The North Vermilion Patriots baseball team has been rolling all season long.
Until Friday night they had only lost one game all season. Unfortunately that changed with a loss to the Mamou Green Demons by the final score of 3-1.
Trey Broussard took the mound and pitched three innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits.
Broussard was able to strike out three Green Demons’ batters in the loss.
Even though the Patriots lost it did not take them long to rebound from only their second loss of the season.
Saturday afternoon the Patriots faced off against E.D. White, who entering the game was the third ranked team in Class 3A.
Behind the arm and bat of Donald Comeaux, the Patriots were able to rebound from the loss to Mamou and defeat E.D. White by the final score of 6-1.
Comeaux pitched a complete game seven hitter.
In those seven innings he gave up only one run and struck out five.
Along with upping his record on the mound to 6-0, Comeaux at the plate went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Trey Broussard also came up big for the Patriots by going 4-for-4 from the plate.
The Patriots record now stands at 18-2 overall and 2-0 in district play.
