Panthers win Cashen Relays, Lady Bobcats win Koenig Relays
Despite the bad weather Friday morning the Koenig and Cashen Relays went off without a hitch.
The Delcambre Panthers thanks in large part to Dezzi Viator, Kody Breaux and John Crittenden, who would go on to win the Outstanding Track Performer award, were able to take home the Cahsen Relays title with a score of 128 points over the Kaplan Pirates who scored 116 points.
“It always feels good to win,” Delcambre boys track Head Coach Darcy Delcambre said. “Especially when you can win at home, it is always a great feeling. All coaches are trying to put the pieces together for the district meet. I’m just really proud of the kids.
Crittenden, winner of the Outstanding Track Award, would end up winning the 800 and 1600 meter races, along with being a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that finished second.
Crittenden combined with Viator and Breaux would score 58 of the Panthers 128 points.
The Koenig Relays are run in conjunction with the Cashen Relays and the winner of the 40th annual Koenig Relays is the Erath Lady Bobcats.
The Lady Bobcats were able to edge out the Abbeville Lady Wildcats by only a point and a half.
Erath scored 114.5 points to Abbeville’s 113 points.
“I think the puzzle is starting to come together,” Erath girls track Head Coach Johnathan Bouillion said. “I told them that I think we took two steps back on Monday, (at the Patriot Relays) but today we took three steps forward. So, I’m real proud of the progress, and I’m really glad that things are starting to fall in place.”
Helping the Lady Bobcats win were Lindsey Darby and Caitlin Domingues.
Darby would go on to be named Outstanding performer by winning the triple jump, finishing second in the 100 meter dash, third in the long jump and fourth in the 300 meter hurdles.
Domingues would win the Outstanding Track Performer because of her first place finishes in the 100, 200 and 400 meter races.
In total Darby and Domingues scored a total of 58 of the Lady Bobcats 114.5 points.
The next meet will be the Pirate Relays held in Kaplan this coming Friday night.
