Bobcats maul Pios on the road

The Erath baseball team’s season may not have gotten off to the fastest start, but the Bobcats are starting to heat up.
The Bobcats were the last team in the Parish to start district play and with a win over the Notre Dame Pios, by the final score of 3-2, they started district off the right way.
“It feels great to get a win like that,” Erath Head Coach David Jordan said. “Especially when you can get on like that on the road. It’s what I have told the kids all season long, to win this thing (district title) we are going to have to steal some on the road and take care of business at home.”
The game started off the right way for the Bobcats.
Leadoff batter Aaron Greene got on to start the game when he got hit by a pitch. He then proceeded to steal second, and advanced to third on an error and scored on a sac fly by Jace Harrington, to take a 1-0 lead.
The Pios would score in the bottom of the second to make it 1-1, but the Bobcats would score a go ahead run in the top of the third on a Jessie Jordan RBI double.
Notre Dame scored to tie it at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth, and the Bobcats would score the game winning run in the top of the sixth inning.
The Bobcats were led by pitcher Jace Harrington.
Harrington would pitch all seven innings, and only allow two earned runs on two hits. He also struck out five Pios.
Along with a solid pitching performance, Harrington went 1-for-3 from the plate with and RBI.
Aaron Greene also had a good day at the plate.
He would reach base twice. Once by being hit by a pitch in the first inning and a single later in the game.
Greene also used his speed to swipe four bases and score two of the Bobcats three runs.
The Bobcats with their new 8-9 record overall and 1-0 district record, will be back in action tonight when they host Notre Dame at the Quality Sports Authority fields.
First pitch is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
