District ball is in full swing
Now that the calendar has flipped from March to April, the baseball/softball season in Vermilion Parish is starting to heat up with the buzz of district play.
All but one team has already begun district play in the Parish, and as for everyone else, the race for the district title and the playoffs has begun.
The Abbeville Lady Wildcats softball team has a record of 8-6 overall and 1-4 in district play.
They also find themselves ranked 29th in the power rankings. The Lady Wildcats also only have six games left, and four of them are this week.
The Lady Wildcats faced off against Northside Christian last night. They then host North Vermilion tonight and Erath tomorrow night.
Then on Thursday they travel to Crowley to play Notre Dame.
The Delcambre Panthers baseball team has a record of 6-8 overall and a 1-1 record in district play, which is good enough to have them ranked 30th in the class 2A power rankings.
The Lady Panthers softball team is rocking and rolling and have their eyes on the district title.
They are 14-6 overall and 4-1 in district. They are also ranked as the 8th best team in class 2A.
The Erath Bobcats have won their last two games, and that puts them two games behind .500.
The Bobcats 7-9 overall record places them in the 29th spot in the power rankings. They are also the only team to not have played a district game yet, but they fix that this week when they travel to Notre Dame tonight, and then host Notre Dame on
Thursday.
The Lady Bobcats take their 12-9 overall record, and 2-3 district record on the road for much of the week.
The Lady Bobcats have four games this week and three of them are on the road.
The Kaplan Lady Pirates are riding high after last week, where they defeated Notre Dame and North Vermilion to take the lead in District 6-3A.
The Lady Pirates have a 15-5 overall record and a district record of 5-1 has them cemented as the number two team in Class 3A.
They will travel to West St. Mary tonight and then host Erath on Thursday.
The Pirates record is 5-13 overall and 0-2 in district play, but their schedule is one of the toughest in the state.
The Pirates are ranked number 36 in the power rankings, and travel to Baldwin to take on West. St. Mary tonight, and then host them on Thursday.
Both the Patriots and Lady Patriots of North Vermilion are playing good ball right now.
The Patriots are the third ranked team in the state and have 15-1 overall record and a 2-0 district record.
The Lady Patriots are ranked number seven with a 14-5 overall record and a 4-2 district record.
The Vermilion Catholic Eagles are ranked sixth in the power rankings with a 12-7 overall record and a 1-1 district record.
The Lady Eagles are ranked 26th with a 7-10 overall record and a 3-3 district record.
The regular seasons only have a couple weeks left in the regular season so make you sure you catch some of the great baseball/softball action in the parish.
