Lady Patriots host district rival Erath

The district match-up between the North Vermilion Lady Patriots and the Erath Lady Bobcats, which starts at 4 p.m. Tuesday at North Vermilion’s field, is a match-up of two teams heading in opposite directions.

The Lady Patriots (10-3, 2-1) are the proud owners of a three game winning streak, and they have won nine of their last 10 games.

“Erath is a good softball team,” North Vermilion Head Coach Richard Prejean said. “This week is going to be tough for us because we are kind of beat up. We have to play six games in six days, and that all begins with Erath. They are a team that can
jump up and get you and we are going to have to play our ‘A’ game.”

The Erath Lady Bobcats (12-8, 2-2) are currently on a two game losing streak.

Erath’s head coach Lance Beal knows that his young team will be up against a good team this afternoon.

“They are a great running team,” Beal said. “They (North Vermilion) are solid, fundamentally. Coach Prejean has done an outstanding job with that program. There is a reason they are consistently one of the best teams in the state every year.”

The chief concern for the Lady Patriots right now is trying to get healthy.

“We are a little banged up,” Prejean said. “We are just trying to get healthy. Every game in district is hard enough as it is, much less when you have a bunch of bumps and bruises.”

The game starts Tuesday at 4 p.m. at North Vermilion’s field.
