Lady Wildcats win Lady Cat Relays

The Lady Cat Relays were held earlier this week, on Wednesday, at Erath.

The winner of the 2014 Lady Cat Realys were the Abbeville Lady Wildcats, and they won in fine fashion by winning five of the 18 events scheduled, and in three of those events, 300 meter hurdles, 110 meter hurdles and shot put they took first and second place.

The Lady Wildcats also found themselves on the podium in eight of the 18 events.

“We had a short week to get a lot of work done,” Abbeville Head Coach Eric Lege said. “It’s still a puzzle that we are trying to put together. Am I satisfied? No because we need to keep on working, but I am proud of the team tonight.”

Along with winning the team even the Lady Wildcats had three members of its team win some individual awards.

Nadasha Valliere and Charlotte Eaton both won the Outstanding Field Performance, and Katina Perry won Outstand Track Performance.

Valliere won the shot put competition, and placed second in the discus throw.

Eaton won the high jump and placed second in the long jump competitions.

Perry won both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles events. Along with being a member of the second place 4x400 meter relay team, and she was apart of the winning 4x200 meter relay team.

“I’m really excited,” Valliere said. “I so excited because I always wanted to win this, and now that I have it, I just want to win more.”

Coach Lege is also very happy for his three girls winning the individual awards.

“Kudos to them,” Lege said. “Eaton had to miss out last year and she is working her way back, so good for her. Nadasha comes and just works hard every day, and Katina Perry has been our MVP the last couple of year. So, I’m very happy for all three
of them.”

The Erath Lady Bobcats were able to finish second for the second straight week with 111 points, only 13 points out of first place.

The North Vermilion Lady Patriots found themselves on the track for the first time this year, and according to their coach Mya Touchet, they are excited about placing third in their first event of the year.
