Patriots remain undefeated with big win

LEROY- The North Vermilion Patriots were able to continue their perfect record alive with a 12-1 win against a previously undefeated Beau Chene team.

“It feels great to get a win like this,” Patriots Head Coach Jeremy Trahan said. “We really hit great, and it’s nice to see because for the past three games we have been a little off with the sticks. So it’s nice to see the bats come alive like they did.”

The Patriots used a couple of big innings to spearhead the 12-1 victory over Beau Chene.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Patriots scored six runs.

Ty Desormeaux had an RBI single. Then three batters later, Taylor Abshire had a single to right field that plated two more Patriots.

After a Donald Comeaux single up the middle, Ryan Meaux stepped up to the plate and hit a screamer right at the Beau Chene first baseman, that he subsequently booted.

The error by the Beau Chene first baseman allowed Abshire and Comeaux to score.

When the inning was all said and done the Patriots had a 7-1 lead.

They would then turn right around and score five more in the bottom of the third to give them their 12 runs.

“We have different things that we look for in a game, and one of those is having a big inning,” Trahan said. “We had that big inning and then were able to answer right back with another big inning, and it was over after that. I’m proud of the way the guys
played.”

Desormeaux led the way for the Patriots on both the mound and at the plate.

He would pitch all five innings and would only give up one earned run on four hits.

Desormeaux was also able to strike out four Beau Chene batters.

Along with turning in a near flawless performance on the mound, Desormeaux went 3-3 from the plate with two RBIs.

The Patriots are back in action this weekend as they take part in the Choudrant Tournament.
