Lady Bobcats score 32 runs in two tournament games

The Erath Lady Bobcats entered the Acadiana Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Lady Cats Classic Tournament hoping to put up runs on the score board. They did exactly that Friday night in the in the opening two games.

The Lady Bobcats crushed the Class 5A Carencro Lady Bears 14-3 and then came right back and scored 18 runs against Welsh to cruise to a 18-4 victory.

The two wins, the Lady Bobcats longest winning streak of the year, improved Erath to 4-3 on the season. Erath played another game Saturday.

In the first game, EHS sophomore pitcher Courtney Elliot found her self with early run support from her teammates.

Erath jumped out a 4-0 lead in the first inning and by the third inning, it was 10-0.

Kylia Benoit singled home’s Erath’s first run. The next batter, Hailey Campbell walked and Jasmine Lejeune had a sacrifice RBI to make it 2-0. Campbell would score on an error followed by Alexis Harrington’s RBI-single putting EHS up 4-0 after one
inning.

In the second game, Erath used three pitchers in the victory.

Bailey Strother picked the victory on the hill for EHS because she started the game. Jasmine Lejeune pitched the middle innings and then Elliot closed on the mound.

The bats also came up big for the Lady Bobcats.

Kylia Benoit had a grandslam earlier in the game to give Erath the early lead.

They also batted around almost twice in the bottom of the forth inning, and in the process scored 10 runs to take a huge 18-4 lead.

Acadiana......3
Delcambre....2

The Delcambre Lady Panthers managed to score two runs off three hits but it was not enough in the opening game of the tournament in Erath.

Delcambre and Acadiana were knotted up 2-2 heading into the fifth inning. Delcambre pitcher Taylor Trahan had not allowed an earned run in four innings.

Acadiana, a Class 5A school, scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a passed ball.

Taylor allowed four hits and no earned runs in seven innings of work. She also had a hit at the plate. Other Lady Panthers with hits were Taylor Broussard and Lindsey W.
